I am so excited to share my experience at HGTV’s premiere “Blogger Block Party!” This fun, fresh event was held in the unique, multi-level 404 Studios near the Jacob Javits Center in Manhattan. When I arrived at the venue I was greeted with a colorful assortment of swag bags and offerings along with a warm and friendly face to check me in.
Once inside, the lively atmosphere gave way to networking and a plethora of DIY stations, which served as the perfect icebreaker, making
conversation all the easier (I mean, how guarded can you be while painting coasters as you sip wine and enjoy a steady stream of amazing hor d'oeuvres!). I loved the sitting area, complete with grass and benches, ideal for mixing and mingling. The festive lanterns and lights above head provided a sense of fun and carefree whimsy, reminding me of my childhood
summers.
The high energy lasted through the night as connections were made at the Sherwin-Williams’ Craft Table. Filled with everything needed to create a one-of-a-kind coaster, the featured paint colors included Frolic, Majolica Green, Exuberant Pink, Rosebay, Independent Gold, Jonquil, Powder Blue, Framboise, Celestial and Sporty Blue… and I found a place on my coaster to fit them all! I even found the “HGTV” letters and dedicated my coaster to the television station (I know, “Teacher’s Pet” much?!)
Target had a cozy enclave on the second level with lounge chairs to sit back and enjoy the music mixology of DJ X-Ray, Raymond Ruiz. And I was able to exercise my knowledge of flowers at the Wheel of Floral’s “Guess The Flower,” ultimately winning prizes to add to my swag bag.
The foodie in me was utterly impressed with the parade of delicious hor d'oeuvres paired with wines from Lindeman’s and Refreshers by Starbucks. My culinary fun was topped off with a cup of Breyer’s Gelato that rivals any Italian shop! All in all, I had an amazing time, and my experience can best be described as whimsical! I’m totally looking forward to the next “Blogger Block Party” as I’m sure it will become a favorite among bloggers and crafters alike!
Hugs,
Jenn
