A Floral Obsession!
To quote the infamous, sarcastic words of Miranda in The Devil Wear Prada, “Florals? For spring? How groundbreaking.” Well, Miranda we have a surprise for you...much like the flowers the trend is inspired by, florals return every spring, but this season we’re reinventing it with a fresh update. No longer do florals equate to sweet and dainty. Spring ’14 is about bold prints, scene creating graphics, and 3D illusions. Although they take inspiration from abstract art and retro prints, these are not your grandmother’s antique textiles. Oscar de la Renta and Christian Siriano’s Spring ’14 ready-to-wear collections were my favorite examples of the transformed trend. Be sure to check the Fashion page for some of my fav looks.
Of course I found a way to take the trend straight off of the runway by incorporating it into my personal style with one of my favorite spring pieces. Inspired by my CAbi Rose Garden Jacket, I had to take advantage of the blooming flowers and have a mini garden photo session.
